Commercial Vehicle Recovery in Glasgow
When a work vehicle stops, the job stops. Help finding recovery for vans, fleets and heavier commercial vehicles.
A broken-down work vehicle costs more than the recovery fee — it costs the day's jobs, the delivery window, the customer waiting at the other end. Glasgow Recovery Help connects businesses and drivers with local recovery support for commercial vehicles across Glasgow and the surrounding towns: panel vans, LWB and high-roof vans, tippers, pickups, minibuses and fleet cars.
We're honest about scale: light commercial vehicles up to around 3.5 tonnes are standard flatbed work. Heavier vehicles — 7.5-tonne trucks, HGVs, buses — need specialist equipment that only some operators run, so tell us exactly what the vehicle is and we'll be straight about what can be arranged.
What this covers
- Vans and light commercials — panel vans, LWB, high-roof, dropsides and tippers up to ~3.5t.
- Fleet and trade vehicles — pool cars, taxi and private hire, delivery fleets needing a vehicle moved fast.
- Minibuses and pickups — moved with the right equipment for their weight and wheelbase.
- Heavier and specialist vehicles — described honestly in your request so specialist recovery can be sought where needed.
Keeping downtime short
For businesses, the destination matters as much as the collection: straight to your usual garage, back to the depot, or on to a hire replacement pickup. Include the vehicle's weight and dimensions if you know them, whether it's loaded, and where it needs to end up — loaded vans change what equipment is required.
If it's an emergency, call 999 first
If anyone is injured, if your vehicle is in a live traffic lane, or if there is any immediate danger, contact the emergency services before anything else. Your safety comes first.
If you've broken down or had an incident
- Get yourself and passengers to a safe place, away from moving traffic where possible.
- Switch on hazard lights and, if you have one and it's safe, place a warning triangle well behind the vehicle.
- Wear a hi-vis vest if you have one, especially at night or in poor weather.
Heavy vehicle recovery
Searches for heavy vehicle recovery around Glasgow usually mean 7.5t and up — a different class of job involving underlifts and heavy wreckers. We don't pretend every operator can do this. If your vehicle is over 3.5 tonnes, say so in the request along with the location, and we'll be honest about whether suitable specialist recovery can be found for it.

Frequently asked questions
What size of commercial vehicle can be recovered?
Light commercial vehicles up to around 3.5 tonnes are standard flatbed work. Above that, specialist equipment is needed. Give the make, model and weight in your request and we will be honest about what can be arranged.
Can a loaded van be recovered?
Often yes, but the combined weight matters. Say whether the vehicle is loaded and roughly how heavy the load is, so recovery arrives with equipment rated for the total weight.
Do you help with fleets or repeat business use?
During our launch phase we handle requests one at a time, but if you run a fleet in the Glasgow area we are happy to hear from you — send a request describing your vehicles and typical needs.
Can the vehicle go to our depot or usual garage?
Yes — in most cases recovery can deliver to a depot, your regular garage or another destination. Include the address and any access details in your request.
